Compliance, Ministry of Fisheries, acting pursuant to
delegated authority, hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be
    cited as the Fisheries (Automatic Location Communicator)
    Notice 2006 (No. 1).

(2) This notice comes into effect on the day after its
notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—In this notice, “type approval” means
    an approval given by the Chief Executive of the Ministry
    of Fisheries under Regulation 5 of the Fisheries (Satellite
    Vessel Monitoring) Regulations 1993.

  2. Grant of type approval—Pursuant to Regulation 5 (2)
    of the Fisheries (Satellite Vessel Monitoring) Regulations
    1993, a full type approval has been granted to the following
    Inmarsat-C device:

Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing)
Regulations 1999

Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice
(No. 4) 2006 (No. F384)

Pursuant to Regulations 21 and 22 of the Fisheries
(South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the
Programme Manager (Deed of Settlement Implementation
Programme) at the Ministry of Fisheries (acting pursuant
to a delegated authority in accordance with section 41 of
the State Sector Act 1988) gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be
    cited the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice
    (No. 4) 2006.

(2) This notice shall come into effect the day after the date
of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—In this notice:

(a) “customary food gathering” has the meaning given
to it in Regulation 2 of the Fisheries (South Island
Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999.

(b) “mātaitai reserve” means a traditional fishing ground
at Koukourarata (Port Levy) encompassing those
waters that lie south of a straight line drawn from
Te Piaka/Adderley Head to Akeake/Baleine Point;

(c) “Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki” means the person or
persons appointed under Regulations 21 or 22 of
the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing)
Regulations 1999 as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the
mātaitai reserve;

  1. Nomination of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—Te Rūnanga
    o Koukourarata, being the tangata whenua holding
    manawhenua manamoana over the mātaitai reserve
    (as represented by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu), has
    nominated Graeme Grennell for a further term as
    a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve. His
    appointment was originally confirmed by the Associate
    Minister of Fisheries by way of the Fisheries (South Island
    Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 29) 2001 (No. F193)*.

  2. Appointment of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—On 30 August
    2006, the Associate Minister of Fisheries (acting pursuant
    to a delegated authority) confirmed the reappointment of
    Graeme Grennell as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai
    reserve. The appointment is for five years commencing the
    day this notice comes into effect.\n

  3. Power to authorise the taking of fisheries resources
    for customary food gathering
    —The Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki
    may authorise any individual to take fisheries resources
    managed under the Fisheries Act 1996 for customary food
    gathering purposes from within the whole or any part of
    the mātaitai reserve.

Appointment to the Mental Health Commission

Pursuant to section 28 (1) (a) of the Crown Entities Act
2004, I have appointed

as a member of the Mental Health Commission for a term of
office commencing on 20 September 2006 and terminating
on 31 August 2007.

This appointment was made by way of written notice to the
member (with a copy to the entity), pursuant to section
28 (2) of the Crown Entities Act 2004.
