Civil Aviation Act 1990

Notice of Making Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Amendment Notice 2005

Pursuant to section 27Q of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, the Minister of Transport has issued the Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Amendment Notice 2005, which amends the Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Notice 2002 by extending the expiry date for the transitional criteria established for the issue of aviation documents to medical examiners and the delegation to medical examiners of the power to issue medical certificates.

The transitional criteria cover the following matters:

  • Classification of medical examiners.
  • Term for which aviation documents may be issued to medical examiners.
  • Selection criteria for medical examiner certificates.
  • Term for which delegation may be issued.
  • Qualifications for the grant of delegations.
  • Criteria for standard medical assessments.

The Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Notice 2002 now applies in respect of the period commencing on 1 April 2002 and ending with the earlier of the following:

(a) The commencement of civil aviation rules referred to in section 27Q (2) and (3) of the Civil Aviation Act; or

(b) the close of 31 March 2006.
