Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act Notice 2004—Appointment of Directors of Area Mental Health Services

Pursuant to section 92 of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, I, Karen Olive Poutasi, Director-General of Health, give the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice shall be read together with the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act Notice 2000—Appointment of Directors of Area Mental Health Services (“the principal notice”)*.

  2. The Schedule to the principal notice is amended in respect of

“Area 3—Bay of Plenty”

by omitting the name and title

“Mark Fisher, medical practitioner of Tauranga”

and substituting the name and title

“Barbara Foster, registered nurse of Tauranga”.

Misuse of Drugs Act 1975

Medical Practitioner Who May Prescribe, Administer or Supply Controlled Drugs for the Purpose of Treating People With Drug Dependence

Pursuant to section 24 (7) (a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, I, David George Chaplow, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, specify that

Dr Kim Maree Lawson, Promed Edgeware Doctors, 57 Edgeware Road, Christchurch

is a medical practitioner who may prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the purposes of that section, with the following conditions:

(a) The prescription of controlled drugs for the treatment of dependence is limited to patients registered at Dr Lawson’s practice who have been assessed as requiring substitution treatment for opioid dependence by a gazetted opioid substitution treatment service; and

(b) Dr Lawson’s authorisation of other medical practitioners to prescribe controlled drugs for the treatment of opioid dependence is limited to designated locums working in her practice. Those medical practitioners authorised by Dr Lawson may only prescribe controlled drugs for the treatment of opioid dependence to patients registered at Dr Lawson’s practice, and may only do so with Dr Lawson’s written permission.

Health Centre Specified as a Place at Which Controlled Drugs May be Prescribed, Administered or Supplied for the Purpose of Treating People With Drug Dependence

Pursuant to section 24 (7) (b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, I, Jeremy John Skipworth, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, specify

Wairarapa Addiction Service Incorporated, 20 Victoria Street, Masterton

as a place at which controlled drugs may be prescribed, administered or supplied for the purposes of that section.
