Notice of Intention to Take Land for Sewage
Treatment Purposes—Queenstown Lakes District
Pursuant to section 23 (1) (b) of the Public Works Act 1981,
take notice that the Queenstown Lakes District Council
(“the council”) proposes to take the land being comprised
and described as Lot 1, D.P. 306621, contained in certificate
of title 5813, Otago Land District, that fronts the Frankton-
Ladies Mile Highway, Wakatipu Basin.
The land is required for sewage treatment purposes and it is
intended to use the land as a site for a sewage treatment
facility.
It is considered necessary to take the land due to:
(a) the projected population growth in the Wakatipu
area is such that the present sewage discharge
arrangements will be unable to support growth
beyond the immediate future. That growth is already
permitted due to the zoning provisions of the
council’s district plan.
(b) land in the Queenstown Lakes District that is
suitable for the siting of a new sewage disposal site
is limited due to the need to control the treatment on
to land.
(c) the land described herein is suitable for the siting of
a new sewage disposal facility due to the proximity.
