Approval of Code of Practice—Agriculture

(Notice No. 1339)

Pursuant to section 28 of the Agricultural Compounds and
Veterinary Medicines Act 1997, the Director-General of
the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry hereby gives notice
that:

  1. the code of practice set out in the Schedule hereto is
    approved as suitable to receive statutory recognition for
    use in the management of risks under the Act; and

  2. the approval of the code of practice set out in the
    Schedule hereto will take effect on the day following
    the date of publication in the New Zealand Gazette; and

  3. the code of practice set out in the Schedule hereto may
    be inspected or purchased at the place of the owner or
    sponsor of the code as shown in the Schedule.

Animal Products (Ancillary and Transitional Provisions) Act 1999

Approval for the Use of a Drug or Substance for the Prevention or Treatment of Disease in Bees

Notice No. 1337

Section 62 (1) of the Animal Products (Ancillary and
Transitional Provisions) Act 1999 provides that:

“No person may use any drug, substance, or mixture of
substances for the prevention or treatment of any disease
in bees, other than a drug for the time being approved
for that purpose pursuant to subsection (2).”

Section 62 (2) of the Animal Products (Ancillary and
Transitional Provisions) Act 1999 provides that:

“The Minister may from time to time, by notice in the
New Zealand Gazette, approve the use, subject to
such conditions as the Minister specifies, of any
specified drug for the prevention or treatment of
any specified disease.”

Pursuant to section 62 of the Animal Products (Ancillary
and Transitional Provisions) Act 1999, I approve the use of
the drug

Apiguard

for the prevention or treatment of varroa (Varroa destructor).
