Burial and Cremation Act 1964

Closure of the Pauatahanui Burial Ground, Pauatahanui

I, Graeme Richard Gillespie, Manager, Public Health Programmes, Ministry of Health, acting under delegation from the Minister of Health, make the following directions under the Burial and Cremation Act 1964 (“the Act”):

  1. Under section 41 (1) of the Act, the denominational burial ground, being the land known as the Pauatahanui Burial Ground, Pauatahanui, being the land described in the Schedule to this notice (“the ground”), shall be closed subject to the exceptions and qualifications set out in paragraph 2 below, and burials there shall be discontinued from and including 4 December 2004;

  2. This closing order shall be subject to the following exception and qualification:

    (a) That any person who has purchased a burial plot in the ground before 4 December 2004 may be buried in the ground;

    (b) Under section 44 of the Act, the control and management of the ground is vested in the Porirua City Council as from 4 June 2004.

Tax Administration Act 1994

Notice of Public Ruling

  1. This is a notice of a public ruling made under section 91D of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

  2. Public ruling BR Pub 04/06 entitled “Trading stock—Tax treatment of sales and agreements to sell” was issued on 27 May 2004. The ruling’s subject matter was originally contained in BR Pub 98/8, which applied from 1 February 1999 to the end of the 2002 income year. BR Pub 04/06 applies from 1 April 2003 to 31 March 2008. It will appear in Inland Revenue’s Tax Information Bulletin, Vol. 16, No. 5 of June 2004.

  3. A copy of the ruling may be obtained by writing to the Manager, Field Liaison & Communication (Adjudication & Rulings), National Office, Inland Revenue, P.O. Box 2198, Wellington.
