Transit New Zealand (Maximum Speeds of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 2004/1
Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989 and section 72 (1) (j) of the Transport Act 1962, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following Bylaw:

Title and commencement—This Bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Maximum Speeds on State Highways) Bylaw 2004/1 and comes into force 28 days after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

Interpretation—In this bylaw:
(a) “State highway” means any road that is a State highway as defined in section 2 of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, and includes a motorway as defined in section 2 of that Act.
(b) “Vehicle” has the same meaning as it has in section 2 (1) of the Land Transport Act 1988. -
Maximum speed of vehicles on specified sections of State highways—No person shall drive, ride, or operate any vehicle at a speed exceeding the maximum speed (in kilometres per hour) fixed in the Schedule as attached to this bylaw on the section of State highway for which the maximum speed is fixed.
This bylaw was made by resolution passed at a meeting of Transit New Zealand held in Wellington on 5 May 2004.
