4. Cancellation of appointment

The Associate Minister of Fisheries hereby confirms the cancellation of the appointment of Gloria May Colloty as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for managing customary food gathering for the area/rohe moana.

5. Nomination of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki

Te Rūnanga o Moeraki, being the tāngata whenua holding manawhenua manamoana over the area/rohe moana, have nominated Pamela Joyce Hey as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for managing customary food gathering for the area/rohe moana.

6. Appointment of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki

The Associate Minister of Fisheries hereby confirms the appointment of Pamela Joyce Hey as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for managing customary food gathering for the area/rohe moana. The appointment is for a term of five years commencing the day this notice comes into effect.

7. Power to authorise taking of fisheries resources for customary food gathering

The Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki may authorise any individual to take fisheries resources managed under the Fisheries Acts 1983 and 1996 for customary food gathering purposes from within the whole or any part of the area/rohe moana. No customary food gathering of fisheries resources may take place in the area/rohe moana without authorisation of a Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki.

Pursuant to Regulation 3 of the Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Regulations 2003, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Notice 2004.

(2) This notice shall come into effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Entry into force of Convention—The Convention on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean will come into force on 19 June 2004 and will apply with respect to New Zealand from this date.

  2. Application of Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Regulations 2003—The Fisheries (Western and Central Pacific Ocean Highly Migratory Fish Stocks) Regulations 2003 will apply from 19 June 2004.
