Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whangaroa

Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989,
the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Māori
    o Whangaroa.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day after
    publication.

  3. I hereby establish in Matauri Bay a full primary school
    called Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whangaroa and designate
    the school as a Kura Kaupapa Māori.

  4. The school will operate in accordance with Te Aho
    Matua.

  5. The special characteristics of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o
    Whangaroa are that:

  • Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whangaroa commit totally to
    the guiding principles outlined in Te Aho Matua;
  • the paramount purpose of the kura is the needs of
    tamariki and their learning;
  • all tamariki enjoy an education which respects their Tino
    Rangatiratanga, dignity, rights and individuality;
  • the tamariki will be educated through Te Reo Māori total
    immersion as the medium of instruction;
  • our tamariki develop a sensitivity and respect for all
    others; and
  • this education challenges them to reach their full
    potential in the pursuit of excellence.\n
    Constitution of the Board of Trustees
  1. The Establishment Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa
    Māori o Whangaroa shall comprise:

    (a) five people appointed by the Minister of Education;
    (b) the principal, or principal designate; and
    (c) not more than four people co-opted by the board.

  2. The Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whangaroa notice,
    published in the New Zealand Gazette, 28 October 2004,
    No. 138, page 3416, is hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate
its general effect.

The school will become operational on 1 January 2005. The
present kura teina, Te Whanau o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori
o Whangaroa, will cease to exist as from that date.

Revocation of Notice of Direction for Appointment

of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of
Trustees of Hurupaki School (1080)

The notice of direction for appointment of a limited statutory
manager for the Hurupaki School Board of Trustees
(as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 6 May 2004,
page 1237) is hereby revoked under section 78M (7) of the
Education Act 1989.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

Notice of Dissolution of the Board of Rosebank

School (1471) and Direction to Appoint
a Commissioner

Pursuant to section 78N (1) of the Education Act 1989,
I hereby dissolve the Rosebank School board and direct
the Secretary for Education to appoint a commissioner to
replace that board.

Notice of Appointment of a Commissioner for

Rosebank School (1471)

Pursuant to section 78N (2) of the Education Act 1989,
I hereby appoint

Dennis Finn

as commissioner for Rosebank School.

All functions, powers and duties of the board of Rosebank
School are vested in the commissioner.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

Hukarere College (435), Napier, Board of Trustees

Student Election Invalidation Notice

Pursuant to clauses 9 (3) and 9 (3A) of the Sixth Schedule to
the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated
by the Minister of Education, I hereby declare invalid the
election for the student representative for the Hukarere
College Board of Trustees held on 28 October 2004, require
a new election to be held on 4 March 2005, and declare that
the trustee holding office on 28 October 2004 remain in
office until the close of the day before the day when the new
trustee takes office.

This notice takes effect on the day of notification.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000

Governance Role—Call For Nominations

The Minister of Energy is seeking nominations for members
of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority
(EECA).

The authority, established by the Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Act 2000, is responsible for encouraging,
promoting and supporting energy efficiency, energy
conservation and the use of renewable energy sources in
New Zealand.

In essence, EECA works to improve the energy choices
made in New Zealand.

Members of the authority must have knowledge and
experience in matters relevant to the responsibilities of the
authority (as required by section 25 of the Act).
