(b) A variable speed limit may apply to vehicles traveling in one or both
directions and different variable speed limits may apply in respect of different
directions.

Speeds of vehicles on specified sections of State highways during holidays—No person shall drive, ride or operate any vehicle on the sections
of State highway described in Schedule 2 at a speed exceeding the
maximum speed limit of 50 kilometres an hour for the time period(s) specified
in Schedule 2 which relates to each section of State highway described, or at
a speed exceeding the maximum speed of 70 kilometres an hour for the
remainder of the year.

Maximum speeds of vehicles on specified sections of State highways—
No person shall drive, ride or operate any vehicle at a speed exceeding the
maximum speed fixed in Schedule 3 to this bylaw on the section of State
highway for which the maximum speed is fixed.

Revocation of bylaws—All prior Transit New Zealand bylaws setting speed
limits of vehicles on State highways, including the Bylaws specified in
Schedule 4 to this bylaw, are hereby revoked.

Schedule 1

Part A

(a) The section of State Highway No. 1 that is the Ngauranga
Gorge at Wellington commencing at Helston Road Bridge
(Route Position 979/4.58) extending in a generally southerly
direction to a point (Route Position 979/7.55) 270 metres south
of the northern abutment of the Ngauranga Southbound
Overbridge structure including the ramps and connections to
and from the State highway; a distance of 3.6 kilometres.

(b) The section of State Highway No. 1 that is the Ngauranga
Gorge at Wellington commencing at the North Island Main
Trunk Railway Bridge (Route Position 979/7.33) extending in a
generally northerly direction to a point (Route Position
979/4.42) 70 metres north of Helston Road Bridge, including
the ramps and connections to and from the State highway; a
distance of 2.8 kilometres.
