TARANAKI FISH AND GAME REGION

- OPEN SEASON
2.1 The following waters are open all year:
(i) Lake Rotomanu.
(ii) Lake Mangamahoe, excluding the Waiwhakaiho inlet.
(iii) Lake Ngangana.
(iv) Opunake Lake.
(v) Virginia Lake.
(vi) Lake Namunamu.
(vii) Waiwhakaiho River downstream from the end of Rimu Street extension.
(viii) Huatoki Stream downstream from Brois Street bridge.
(ix) Stony (Hangatahua) River, Warea River, Kapoaiaia Stream, Waiaua River, Mangahume Stream, Kaupokonui Stream, Waingongoro River, all downstream from the State Highway No. 45 bridges.
(x) Patea River downstream from Patea Dam.
(xi) Waitara River downstream from the Manganui River confluence.
(xii) Whanganui River (excluding tributaries).
(xiii) Retaruke River and tributaries downstream of Oio Road bridge.
(xiv) Mangawhero River (excluding tributaries) downstream from the “golf course” bridge at State Highway No. 49.
(xv) Tokiahuru Stream downstream from the bridge at State Highway No. 49.
(xvi) Waitaiki Stream downstream from the bridge at State Highway No. 49.
2.2 The following waters are open from 1 October – 30 June:
(i) Manganuioteao River, excluding the Orautoha and Waimarino Stream tributaries.
(ii) Tokiahuru Stream upstream from the bridge at State Highway No. 49.
(iii) Waitaiki Stream upstream from the bridge at State Highway No. 49.
(iv) Raetihi Hydro Dam.
2.3 The following waters are open from 1 October – 30 April and then from 1 June – 30 September:
(i) Lake Rotorangi from the dam face to the Mangamingi ramp.
(ii) Lake Ratapiko, except the inlet race.
(iii) Lahar Lake.
2.4 The following waters are open from 1 October – 20 April and then from 10 July – 30 September:
(i) Lake Wiritoa.
(ii) Lake Pauri.
2.5 All other waters in the region are open from 1 October – 30 April.
