Bay along the northern shoreline and near the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour/Whakaraupō, 1km south-west of Awaroa/Godley Head, Topographic Map 260-N36 and N37 Akaroa, GR 2493600E 5734800N. Shown on current mapping as Mechanics Bay. This notice completes the statutory process started in 1948.

Notice of Final Decisions to Assign Place Names in the Ross Sea Region, Antarctica
Notice is hereby given of the final decisions of the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign the names stated in the first column of the Schedule below to the places described in the second column of the said Schedule and that such decisions took effect on 15 May 2003.

| Burrows Glacier | 78°02'S Latitude, 163°56'E Longitude. Small hanging glacier on the south side of Garwood Valley and opposite Garwood Glacier, Denton Hills, Topographic Map ST 57-60/10 Mount Discovery. Not named on current mapping. |
| East Antarctic Ice Sheet | 80°00'S Latitude, 80°00'E Longitude. Immense ice sheet that overlies East Antarctica and is co-extensive with that subdivision of Antarctica. |
| Echelmeyer Ice Stream | 79°10'S Latitude, 150°00'W Longitude. Ice stream flowing west to Shirase Coast to the north of MacAyeal Ice Stream (q.v.). One of several major ice streams draining from Marie Byrd Land into the Ross Ice Shelf. No current mapping in this area. |

Ice stream flowing west to the juncture of Shirase and Siple Coasts between Bindschadler Ice Stream (q.v.) and Echelmeyer Ice Stream (q.v.). One of several major ice streams draining from Marie Byrd Land into the Ross Ice Shelf. No current mapping in this area. |
| Mercer Ice Stream | 84°50'S Latitude, 145°00'W Longitude. Ice stream flowing west to Gould Coast, located to the south of Whillans Ice Stream (q.v.). The southern-most of several major ice streams draining from Marie Byrd Land into the Ross Ice Shelf. No current mapping in this area. |
| Victoria Upper Glacier | 77°16'S Latitude, 161°24'E Longitude. Glacier at the upper north-west end of Victoria Valley, Topographic Map ST 57-60/5 Taylor Glacier. Correction from Upper Victoria Glacier, so as to be consistent with the associated Victoria Lower Glacier. |

Suburb of Upper Hutt, located north of the Hutt River, between Moonshine Road and Whakatikei River, Topographic Map 260-R27, R28 and Part Q27 Wellington, GR 2681500E 6008500N. Not named on current mapping.
Marlborough Land District
Duncan Bay
Locality/settlement at Duncan Bay (marine feature), situated at the southern-most reaches of Tennyson Inlet (large body of water off Tawhitinui Reach), Marlborough Sounds, Topographic Map 260-P27 Picton, GR 2574000E 6009200N. Currently named Tennyson Inlet (locality).
