Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996

Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an instrument of delegation dated 26 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an instrument of delegation dated 26 March 1997.

Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, Divisional Manager, Maritime Operations, hereby approve the following equipment to be approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996.

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment:

Garmin GPS II plus Global Positioning System, Serial No 40693725

Furuno FR2125 BB Radar X-Band, Type RPU-011, Serial Number 3390-0421, with Furuno FR2125BB scanner and transmitter, ARP 26 ARPA Option, Furuno GC 8 Gyro Option and VEI LCD display screen

when operated on a Cook Strait Cable Protection Zone Patrol vessel while working in or near the protected area designated “Area 7 – Cook Strait” and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Transpower New Zealand Limited.

This notice comes into effect on 20 June 2003.

Transit New Zealand Act 1989

Declaring State Highway to be Limited Access Road — State Highway No. 50, Hawke’s Bay

It is notified that Transit New Zealand, by resolution dated 4 June 2003 and pursuant to section 88 (1) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, hereby declares those parts of State Highway No. 50 described in the Schedule hereto, and as more particularly shown on Plans LA30/91/02 and LA30/94/01 and accompanying Schedules held in the office of the Regional Manager, Transit New Zealand, Napier, and there available for public inspection, to be limited access road.

Schedule

The section of State Highway No. 50 that is:

(a) In Hastings District, commencing at Kereru Road and proceeding in a south-westerly direction to the northern abutment of the Ben Lomond Bridge (Route Position 33/0.00 to Route Position 33/5.82); a distance of 5.82 kilometres.

(b) In Central Hawke’s Bay District, commencing at northern abutment of the Waipawa River Bridge and generally proceeding in a southerly direction to its junction with State Highway No. 2 (Route Position 67/0.00 to Route Position 79/10.52); a distance of 22.52 kilometres.

Under section 7 (1A) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Community Relations Manager for the Otago Conservancy of the Department of Conservation declares that the land described in the Schedule is held for conservation purposes.

40.650 hectares, being part Section 118, Block XX, Shotover Survey District.

Public Works Act 1981

Land Acquired for a Mines Rescue Station — Rotowaro Road, Huntly

Pursuant to section 20 (1) of the Public Works Act 1981, and to a delegation from the Minister for Land Information, R. J. Sutherland, Land Information New Zealand, declares that, an agreement to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the First Schedule to this notice is hereby acquired for a mines rescue station, the right of way easement in perpetuity described in the Second Schedule hereto (being appurtenant to the land described in the First Schedule hereto) is hereby acquired over the land described in the Third Schedule hereto and vests in the Crown, excepting out all coal and other minerals contained in Computer Register SA1406/66, on the date of publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette, subject to existing
