Pursuant to section 11B of the Education Act 1989, the
Secretary for Education hereby approves the following
programme as a special programme for the purposes of an
enrolment scheme:
The Reception Programme at Auckland Girls’ Grammar
School

Merger of Wycliffe Intermediate School (2743) and Colenso High School (220)
Pursuant to section 156A (1) of the Education Act 1989,
I hereby declare that Wycliffe Intermediate School (2743)
and Colenso High School (220) will merge on 28 January
2004.
Colenso High School will be the continuing school and
provide education for Years 7 to 15 as a composite school
from that day.

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager at Riverdale School (2667)
Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct
the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory
manager to Riverdale School (2667) because of risks to
the operation of the school, safety of staff, effective
working relationships and the resultant risks to educational
performance of the students at the school.
The following functions, powers and duties of the board are
vested in the limited statutory manager:
- Investigation and resolution of specific complaints which
have been referred to the board of trustees, and such
issues as arise during the course of the investigation; - the review and update of the school’s performance
management systems, personnel policies and procedures,
and complaints policies and procedures; - management of personnel issues, including performance
management of the principal and staff; and - the review of communication systems both within the
school and between the school and its community.
The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on
the following:
- Any matters arising from the above issues; and
- all matters pertinent to their resolution.
The following condition applies to the exercising of the
powers of the board and the limited statutory manager:
- The powers of the limited statutory manager shall be
exercised in consultation with the board.
This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication
of this notice.

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager at Ahuroa School (1200)
Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct
the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory
manager for Ahuroa School (1200) because of risks to the
operation of the school.
The following functions, powers and duties of the board are
vested in the limited statutory manager:
- Undertake a curriculum review that looks at curriculum
coverage, planning, assessment and self review. A specific
focus on literacy and numeracy will be included in the
curriculum review; - manage the property portfolio;
- review the performance management system and ensure
all staff have performance agreements and performance
appraisals against appropriate standards; - develop and implement a programme of community
consultation; and - address all statutory requirements listed in section 6 of
the Education Review Office report.
The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on
the following:
- Mentor and support the board of trustees in its governance
role.
Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975
Supplementary Integration Agreement
Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional
Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary
integration agreement has been signed between the Minister
of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting
through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry
of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the
proprietor of the following school:
St Mary’s College, Ponsonby.
The said supplementary integration agreement was executed
on 16 June 2003.
A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is
available for inspection without charge by any member
of the public at the regional office of the Ministry of
Education, 39-45 College Hill, Ponsonby, Auckland.
