Prime Ministerial Designation Pursuant to Section 28B of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

I, Helen Elizabeth Clark, Prime Minister, acting pursuant to section 28B of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and having regard to the specialist knowledge of relevant agencies, hereby designate the Civil Aviation Authority to administer the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 for the aviation sector, specifically for aircraft while in operation.

The scope of this designation is to administer the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 for work on board aircraft and for aircraft as places of work while in operation.

Specifically, the scope of this designation incorporates the period when the aircraft is taxiing, taking off, in flight and landing.
