Pursuant to section 166 (3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, I, John Glyde Kay, General Manager, Operations, Land Transport Safety Authority, notify the following exemptions from Land Transport Rules were made under section 166 (1) of that Act between 1 January 2003 and 31 March 2003:

Notice of Proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment

In accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of his intention to make a rule concerning vehicle equipment, and advises that the proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment is now available for public comment.

The purpose of this draft rule is to consolidate the safety requirements for items of vehicle equipment currently in the Traffic Regulations 1976.

A copy of the draft rule may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the LTSA web site at

http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/consultation/vehicle-equipment/index.html

The draft rule is also available for viewing at the LTSA’s seven regional offices.

Copies of the draft rule have been made available to groups and individuals that have registered their interest in the rule. Submissions on draft Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment close on Tuesday, 3 June 2003.
