*Aggregate – Mallard Duck and Grey Duck and any hybrids of them, a maximum total bag not exceeding 10 birds for both species and hybrids combined, except that within the aggregate bag, a limit of 3 hen Mallard Duck and 3 Grey Duck shall apply.

6.15 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy Limit

No limit.

Closed Game Areas

There are no closed game areas in Hawkes Bay.

Registered Game Preserves

  1. Tim and Maree Kittos’ property, 303 Gwavas Road, Tikokino. This is 3.3 kilometres west along Gwavas Road, its boundaries the Pan Pac Gwavas Forest and neighbouring properties. These properties are Chas Chestermans’, George Williams’ and Mike Rittson-Thomas (Totara Hill’s.)

  2. Poronui Station; 16 500 acres at the end of Taharua Road, 20 kilometres east of the Napier-Taupo Road. Bordered at the east by Wharetoto 5B Trust land, to the south by the Mohaka River and East Taupo Lands Trust land, and the west by the Kaimanawa Forest Park.

¹⁰Canada Goose hunting is restricted to the following areas:

  1. Within 40 kilometre radius of Porangahau but within that radius not more than 20 kilometres from the East Coast

  2. From Kuripapango north of the Napier Taihape Road and west of the Ngaruroro River
