The Manurewa High School Board of Trustees

Student Election Invalidation

Pursuant to clause 9 (3A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by the Minister of Education, I hereby require Manurewa High School to run its student election again in accordance with the Education (School Trustee Elections) Regulations 2000.

Voting for the election will close on Wednesday, 8 October 2003.

Education (Early Childhood Centres)

Regulations 1998

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 10 (3) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 1 July 2003, which was granted under those Regulations to Tracey McAllister in respect of Herne Bay Early Childhood Centre (20154), situated at 26 Hukanui Crescent, Herne Bay, Auckland.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Te Wharekura o Ruatoki (221)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for Te Wharekura o Ruatoki Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school, welfare of the students and educational performance of the secondary students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are vested in the limited statutory manager:

  • Ensure implementation of the Education Review Office June 2003 report recommendations in line with the agreed action plan;
  • develop an ongoing programme of school-wide self review including effective analysis and improvement systems;
  • personnel management, including appraisal of the principal in line with an established performance agreement;
  • board organisation and management;
  • responsibility for curriculum management, including approval of and governance responsibility for programmes and policies related to teaching and learning at the secondary level; and
  • ensure the development and implementation of policies and procedures that maintain a safe emotional and physical environment for both students and teachers.

The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

  • Consolidating all new and improved systems into board management practice.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication of this notice.
