Notice of Publication of Statement of Intent—Takeovers Panel

In accordance with section 41F of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Commerce hereby gives notice that the Takeovers Panel has published its Statement of Intent 2002/2003, containing its statement of objectives, the nature and scope of the activities to be undertaken by the panel, the panel’s performance targets and standards, and statement of accounting policies.

Education Act 1989

University of Waikato Constitution Notice 2002

Pursuant to section 170 of the Education Act 1989, the Associate Minister of Education (Tertiary Education) hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice may be cited as the University of Waikato Constitution Notice 2002, and shall come into force on 1 January 2003.

  2. The constitution of the Council for the University of Waikato shall be as follows:

(a) Four members appointed by the Minister of Education;

(b) the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato;

(c) one permanent member of the academic staff of the University of Waikato elected by the permanent members of that staff;

(d) one permanent member of the general staff of the University of Waikato elected by the permanent members of that staff;

(e) one member appointed by the Council after consultation with Business New Zealand;

(f) one member appointed by the Council after consultation with the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions;

(g) one student member appointed:

(i) if membership of the Waikato Students’ Union Inc. is compulsory, in the capacity as President of the Waikato Students’ Union;

(ii) in any other case, following an election conducted in accordance with the University of Waikato Election of Members of the Council Statute;

(h) one academic staff member elected by and from the members of the Academic Board of the University of Waikato;

(i) one member appointed by the Council in the capacity as Mayor of Hamilton;

(j) one member appointed by the Council after consultation with the chief executives of the member institutions of The Tertiary Alliance;

(k) one member appointed by the Council after consultation with Te Roopu Manukura;

(l) one person appointed by the Council on the nomination of Te Arikinui; and

(m) up to three members who may be co-opted by Council.

  1. Subject to section 173 of the Education Act 1989, the maximum number of occasions on which a person may be appointed or elected is five four-year terms.

  2. Despite section 173 (1) of the Education Act 1989, the person who is appointed in the capacity as Mayor of Hamilton is appointed for the term that he or she holds office as Mayor.

  3. The notices constituting the Council of the University of Waikato and appearing in the New Zealand Gazette 27 September 1990, No. 169, page 3561 and New Zealand Gazette, 16 September 1999, No. 123, page 2938, are hereby revoked.

Private Schools Conditional Integration

Act 1975

Supplementary Integration Agreement

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

Lindisfarne College, Hastings.

The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on 26 July 2002.

A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the regional office of the Ministry of Education, 265 Marine Parade, Napier.
