5. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS

The following waters are restricted to artificial fly fishing only:

Lakes Whakamarino (Tuai) and Kaitawa (including all inflowing streams).
The Awahou and Hamurana Streams and within a 200m radius of their stream mouths on Lake Rotorua, and the Utuhina Stream above the Devon Street bridge and the Ngongotaha Stream above the State Highway No. 5 road bridge.

The Hopuruahine and Mokau Streams and their tributaries and within a 200m radius of their landmarks into Lake Waikaremoana, and the Aniwaniwa and Korokoro Streams and their tributaries above the Aniwaniwa and Korokoro Falls.

The Horomanga River and tributaries.
The Ohau Channel and waters within a 200m radius from the Lake Rotorua end of the channel and 300m radius of the Lake Rotoiti end of the channel.

The Ruakituri and Hangaroa Rivers (including their tributaries) upstream from the base of the Te Reinga Falls.

The Tarawera River from Lake Tarawera (excluding the trout spawning sanctuary) to the Tarawera Falls.

The Waioeka River and Opato Stream (including tributaries) upstream from their confluence.
The Waimapu Stream above the waterfall 1km east of the Oropi Road–Hereford Road junction.
The Wharekopae River.

Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Tapuaekura (Coles) Bay, and Hauparu Bay on Lake Rotoiti from 1 April to 30 June, and within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Ruato Bay, Waiiti Stream and the Pipe at Northern Hinehopu on Lake Rotoiti from 1 April to 30 September.

Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Te Wairoa, The Landing, Waitangi Stream, Tarawera Outlet, Wairua Stream and Twin Creeks on Lake Tarawera.

Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at the Log Pool and Rayners 1 and Rayners 2 streams on Lake Okataina from 1 April to 30 June.

Within a 200m radius of the Ngawhakairara Stream mouth in Lake Waikareiti.

6. BAIT FISHING WATERS

Bait fishing is not permitted in any waters in the Eastern Region.

7. COARSE FISHING WATERS

There are no defined coarse fishing waters in the Eastern Region.

8. USE OF BOATS

8.1 No licence holder shall fish for trout from a boat in the following waters:

That section of the Tarawera Outlet enclosed by landmarks.
The area within a radius of 15m of the Wairua Stream mouth.
The designated winter shoreline-fishing areas on Lakes Tarawera, Rotoiti and Okataina (Schedule 2 Clause 2) from 1 July to 30 September.

The Ohau Channel and the area within 200m of the channel mouth in Lake Rotorua.
The Tarawera River from its outlet from Lake Tarawera to the Tarawera Falls situated approximately 2500m downstream.

8.2 No licence holder shall fish for trout from any unanchored boat:

8.2.1 in waters that, at any time of the year, are reserved for artificial fly fishing.
