NORTHLAND FISH AND GAME REGION

  1. DEFINITIONS

See First Schedule.

  1. OPEN SEASON

All lakes and reservoirs in region. All year
All rivers and streams in region. 1 Oct – 31 Apr

  1. CLOSED WATERS

No restrictions.

  1. AUTHORIZED TACKLE

See First Schedule.

  1. FLYFISHING ONLY WATERS

No restrictions.

  1. BAIT FISHING WATERS

Bait fishing (as defined in the First Schedule) is permitted in all lakes and reservoirs.

Bait fishing is permitted in rivers and streams only when fishing for tench and perch.

Any licence holder catching a trout from a river or stream when using bait must immediately return it with as little injury as possible to the water from which it was taken.

  1. COARSE FISHING WATERS

There are no defined coarse fishing waters in the Northland Region.

  1. USE OF BOATS

Anglers trolling from boats must stay at least 50 metres from any anglers fishing from the shore.

  1. DAILY BAG LIMITS

9.1 All Rivers and Streams :

No licence holder shall on any 1 day kill more than 2 trout.

There is no daily bag limit for tench or perch.
