Schedule 1

Amendments

  1. Commencement—These amendments shall come into force on 8 April 2002.

  2. Division III—Electronic Gaming Machines

    Part 2.0—Equipment

2.1 Rule 2.1 of this division is deleted and the following rule substituted:

“2.1 All gaming machines and games played on gaming machines, and all other gaming equipment used in the conduct of games in a casino, shall be of a type approved by the Authority and shall comply with all applicable provisions of Division IV or Division V of these rules as the case may be.”

Part 3.0—Operation of Electronic Gaming Machines

2.2 Rule 3.1 of this division is amended by substituting the number IV with the number V.

  3. Division IV—Gaming and Monitoring Equipment Standards (“GAMES”)

    Part A—Executive Summary

3.1 GAMES are hereby amended by inserting the following overview after section A.1 and before the commencement of section A.2.

    Overview

GAMES were first developed to act as a generic document guiding the development, testing, approval and operation of gaming related equipment for casinos. While its focus has never been solely related to gaming machine technical standards, that area has certainly been its primary focus.

The Authority’s decision to adopt the Australian/New Zealand Gaming Machine Standard which is set out in Division V of these rules, means that GAMES no longer have any application to gaming machines.

GAMES will continue to provide the benchmark against which all other casino gaming equipment should be assessed to the extent that they are relevant to the operation of that equipment. Where GAMES may be too broad to provide any useful application to a particular item of gaming equipment, the Authority may, at its discretion, approve the equipment where it is satisfied such equipment has been evaluated and approved for operation in another recognised regulated jurisdiction.”

3.2 A new Division V, as set out in Schedule 2 to this notice, is inserted after Division IV as follows:

Division V: Australian/New Zealand Gaming Machine National Standard, Revision 5.0, 4 January 2002

3.3 A new Appendix, as set out in Schedule 3 to this notice, is inserted after the new Division V, as follows:

New Zealand Casinos’ Appendix to the Australian/New Zealand Gaming Machine National Standard, Version 1.0
