Except on 4 and 5 May 2002, unmoored camouflaged rowboats may be used for hunting.

Canada Goose hunting is restricted to the following areas:
- Within 40 Kilometre Radius of Porangahau
- From Kuripapango north of the Napier Taihape Road and west of the Ngaruroro River
