C Competency assessment (Regulation 12)
The nursing council will monitor the ongoing
competence of nurse prescribers through its policies for
competence-based practising certificates for registered
nurses.
All nurse practitioners must undertake an assessment
every five years to determine their continuing competency
as a nurse practitioner and nurse prescriber.
As part of this assessment, all nurses authorised to
prescribe within the scope of practice for child family
health must provide the nursing council with evidence
that they have completed the ongoing training required
by paragraph B above.

Key to Annotations
1 When it is satisfied that an applicant has met the
requirements to be entitled to prescribe, the nursing council
will approve registration for nurse prescribing and enter the
additional qualification on the register. The practising
certificate will indicate nurse prescriber registration, and the
relevant scope(s) of practice.

TOWER Insurance Limited

Insurance Companies (Ratings & Inspections) Act 1994

Change of Rating—TOWER Insurance Limited
Pursuant to section 8 (1) of the Insurance Companies
(Ratings & Inspections) Act 1994, the insurer financial
strength rating for TOWER Insurance Limited has been
changed to “A–” from “A”.
At the same time, this rating has been placed on CreditWatch
with negative implications.
The new rating, which remains in the “strong” category, is
the result of the recent announcement that the TOWER
Group results for the year ended 30 September 2002 will be
adverse to current market expectations.
This adverse result has occurred in the group’s Australian
operations, which do not affect TOWER Insurance
Limited’s underlying strength.
