From the Akitio River Mouth along the Akitio River Road to Huiarau. From Huiarau in a south-westerly direction to the end of Settlement Road at Pinehill. South-west along Settlement Road to Coast Road. South along Coast Road to Crosshills. From Crosshills along the southern boundary of Crosshills Station to Waihoki. West along Huia Road to State Highway No. 52 and then in a north-east direction along State Highway No. 52 to its junction with Rimu Road. North-west along Rimu Road to the junction with Pahiatua Road, and then in a south-westerly direction to Puketoi Road at grid reference (NZMS 260-T25:640625). North-west along Puketoi Road to Nikatea and then following Pori Road south-west to its junction with State Highway No. 52. Then south along State Highway No. 52 to its junction with Dreyer’s Rock Road, then north-west along Dreyer’s Rock Road to the junction with Opaki-Kaiparoro Road, then south along Opaki-Kaiparoro Road to Mauriceville. From Mauriceville north-west along South Road to Mauriceville West, then west along West Road to its end. From the end of West Road in a direct line west to the Ruamahanga River, and then following the Ruamahanga River upstream to the eastern boundary of the Tararua Forest Park. Then following the eastern boundary of the Park in a general south-westerly direction to Wallace Trig Featherston at grid reference (NZMS 260-S27:034099), then north-west in a direct line to Saddle Trig (Akatarawa Saddle) at grid reference (NZMS 260-R26:875264). From Saddle Trig in a south-west direct line to the Paekakariki Hill Road at Grid Reference (NZMS 260-R26:732166). Following the Paekakariki Hill Road south to Pauatahanui. From Pauatahanui following State Highway No. 58 west to the intersection with State Highway No. 1. Following State Highway No. 1 south to Ngauranga. From Ngauranga following the coastline and State Highway No. 2 to the Petone foreshore. From the Petone foreshore east following the coastline to Pencarrow Head, to Turakirae Head, to Cape Palliser, to Castlepoint to the Akitio River Mouth.
Northern South Island
All land encompassed by the following peripheral line:
From the mouth of the Wairau River, upstream along the true right of the Wairau River to a point directly opposite the junction of Gibsons Road and the Kaituna/Tuamarina road, then due north to Mt Cullen at grid reference (NZMS 260-P27:796851). Then north-west to Cullen Point at grid reference (NZMS 260-P27:747930), then north to Opouri Peak and on to the Opouri Saddle on the Opouri/Tennyson Inlet Road. Then west along the high points to Editor Hill, then Elliot Peak and then to the Ronga Saddle on the Ronga/Croisilles Road. Then south-west to South Castor Peak and then south along the high points to the Rai Saddle on the Rai Valley/Nelson highway, then on along the high points to Mt Duppa, Saddle Hill, Maungatapu and Dun Mountain. Then due west to Saxton Hill, then south-west along the high points to Richmond Hill, Aniseed Hill and Mt Heslington. Then south-west to the Gordon Range and on along the high points to Mt Harvey and Gordons Knob. Then north to Spooners Saddle on the Nelson/Murchison Highway and on to Dovedale Hill on the saddle on the Wakefield/Woodstock road. Then north-east to Cut Hill on the Moutere Highway. Then north along the middle of the Moutere Highway and Old Coach Road to the junction with Dominion Road and then east along the middle of Dominion Road to the Coastal Highway and then due east to Waimea Inlet. Then along the coastline to the mouth of the Riwaka River and then up the Riwaka River to the junction of the North Branch of the Riwaka River and the South Branch of the Riwaka River, and then up the North Branch of the Riwaka River to the Riwaka Resurgence. Then north-west to the junction of Ironstone Creek and the Takaka River at Uruwhenua, then down the left bank of the Takaka River to the coastline, and then along the coastline to Three Mile Lagoon on the Tasman Sea. Then in a direct line east to the western side of Lake Wahapo where it gives rise to the Okarito River, then in a direct line south-east to Mt Loughnan on the Main Divide. Then up the Main Divide to Mt Barron, then along the high points west to Mt Novaro and on to Mt Hochstetter and the Nancy-Tass Saddle. Then north-west to Mt Rameses and on to Mt Harata. Then north-east to Mt Gore, then south-east to Mt Puttick, then north-east to Mt Haast. Then east to the Rahu Saddle on the Reefton/Springs Junction highway. Then north to Creighton Peak in the Victoria Range and on to Mt Victoria. Then north and north-east along the high points to Mt Pelion and on to Mt Wynn. Then north-east to the Maruia Falls on the Maruia River. Then south-east to the junction of the Matakitaki River and Taylor Stream. Then up the Matakitaki River to the junction with Eight Mile Creek. Then north-east to Tutaki beaconed trig No. 2 and on to the junction of Harte Creek and the Mangles River. Then east to Mt Harte, then north-east to Mt Murchison. Then south-east to the Gowan River outlet from Lake Rotoroa. Then along the western shore of Lake Rotoroa to the D'Urville River. Up the D'Urville River to the junction with Bull Creek, then up Bull Creek to Mole Saddle. Then west to the Three Sisters. Then south to Emily Peaks, then south-east to Mt Una in the Spencer Range. Then south-east to the junction of Glacier Gully and the Waiau River. Then down the Waiau River to its junction with the Henry River, then up the Henry River to the Opera Range then south down the Opera Range to the Organ Range east of Glynn Wye, then south to the Hurunui River east of Esk Head, then south-west to the Puketeraki Range, to Fosters Hill south along the ridge to the Waimakariri River thence down the true left bank of the Waimakariri River to Woodstock Road, east to Depot Road, then north along Ashley Gorge Road to the Ashley River, then east to the Ashley River road bridge at Ashley, then south to Rangiora then south-east along Lineside Road to State Highway No. 1, then south to the Waimakariri River, then east along the true left bank of the Waimakariri River to the coast. Then north along the coastline to the mouth of the Wairau River.
Hakataramea Valley
All land encompassed by the following peripheral line:
Start: Grid reference (NZMS 260-I40:170989) true left bank Waitaki River opposite end of Little Roderick Road. Follow Little Roderick road north-east to its end then north-east to Peak 864M at grid reference (NZMS 260-I40:194057), then south-east to peak 1021M Mt Orr at grid reference (NZMS 260-I40:221042), then north-east to peak 860M at grid reference (NZMS 260-I40:235051) and along the ridge of the Campbell Hills to Peak 885M at grid reference (NZMS 260-J40:306137) then north-east to South Branch Waihao River. Follow the South Branch upstream along the true right bank to peak 1063M Mt Aitken at grid reference (NZMS 260-J39:326223). Then north and north-east to the North Branch Waihao River. Follow the North Branch upstream along the true right bank to peak 722M at grid reference (NZMS 260-J39:306327) then north-east along the ridge to peak 1442M at grid reference (NZMS 260-J39:324381). Then north-west along the ridge of the Hunter Hills to peak 1597M
