On 7 January 2002 at the District Court at Tauranga, Nikki David Wakelin, of 183 Lockington Road, Katikati, was convicted of the following offence – driving while disqualified – and in addition to the sentence imposed on him, the Court has ordered that a Mazda motor vehicle, registration No. OH 8282 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

On 18 December 2001 at the District Court at Tauranga, Jarred Grant Whitehead, of 870 Oropi Road, Tauranga, was convicted of the following offence – driving with excess breath alcohol (subsequent offence) – and in addition to the sentence imposed on him, the Court has ordered that a 1983 Mazda motor vehicle, registration No. OA 8959 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

Education Act 1989

Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano Establishment

Pursuant to sections 146 and 156 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano establishment.
  2. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
  3. I hereby establish in Otaki a composite (Years 1 to 13) school called Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano and designate the school as a designated character school.
  4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano – The following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano.

Aims:

To provide a kura-a-iwi whose language of instruction and play is te reo Māori, whose operations are grounded in tikanga Māori and which, together with the whanau, hapu and iwi of our tamariki, will strive to ensure that we produce young people:

  • who have an excellent competency in te reo Māori and matauranga Māori, with a particular emphasis on Awa-, Raukawa- and Toarangatira-tanga;
  • who are high achievers and able to make choices about their future; and
  • who are able to contribute to their whanau, hapu and iwi.

In order to achieve this aim, at a fundamental level, the kura would require support from whanau including that:

(a) the parents and the wider whanau must be prepared to play an active role in the life of the kura and must be committed to its aims.

(b) the parents must be committed to developing and providing a reo Māori environment at home.

Purposes:

To provide an educational environment that promotes the educational vision, goals, objectives, management and self-determination of Te Ati Awa, Ngāti Raukawa and
