General Section

Dental Council of New Zealand

Dental Act 1988

Dentists (Fees) Amendment Notice 2001

  1. Title and Commencement—This notice may be cited as the Dentists (Fees) Amendment Notice 2001 and shall come into force on 1 June 2001. This notice has the status of a regulation for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.

  2. Fees—Pursuant to section 79A of the Dental Act 1988, the Dental Council of New Zealand sets the following fees payable to the council specified in the attached Schedule.

  3. Fees Inclusive of Goods and Services Tax—The fees are inclusive of goods and services tax.

Schedule
Fees Payable

Fee $
Annual practising certificate under section 16 of the Act 400.00¹ ² ³
  1. The fee is reduced to $200.00 for persons registered in the current APC year on/or after 1 December.

  2. The council may grant a 50% refund to registered dentists who have practised dentistry in New Zealand for less than 10 hours per week in the current APC year.

  3. It costs in excess of $400.00 per dentist to run the Council. For the past 3 years the APC fee level of $325.00 has been subsidised by reserves. By 2002/03 the council’s reserves will have been lowered to the minimum considered prudent to allow for unexpected costs, in particular discipline costs. Rather than impose a significant fee increase in 2002, council has agreed to raise the APC fee for 2001/02 to $400.00 and will re-examine the fee level again for the 2002/03 APC year.
