Education

Education Act 1989

Alternative Constitution for Forbury School

Pursuant to section 105A (1) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby approve an alternative constitution for the board of Forbury School as follows:

  • Two persons appointed by the Minister of Education who are the parents of current students at the date of this notice and who shall be entitled to complete their term of office even if their children leave the school before their term of office has been completed;
  • two other persons appointed by the Minister of Education;
  • the principal of the school;
  • one staff representative, elected by staff of the school, as provided for in section 97 (1) of the Education Act 1989; and
  • up to two other persons co-opted by the board because of their special experience or expertise, as provided for in section 99 of the Education Act 1989.

A person may not be appointed as a member, or continue as a member, if he or she holds another position that is, in the Minister’s opinion, inconsistent with the person’s duties as a member.

The Minister may at any time, for just cause, remove an appointed member from office by written notice to the member.

Any casual vacancies which occur during the board’s term of office shall be filled in the manner provided for in section 105 (8) of the Education Act 1989.

The board’s term of office shall extend from 1 December 2001 until the day before the day on which a new board takes office in 2004, having been elected in the manner prescribed in the Education Act 1989.

Except as provided for in this notice, the provisions of Part IX of the Education Act 1989 shall apply.
