Game That May be Hunted or Killed—Duration of 2001/2002 Season

Grey Duck 5 May to 1 July 2001 incl. 3*
Shoveler Duck 5 May to 1 July 2001 incl. 5*
Mallard Duck 5 May to 1 July 2001 incl. 6*
*Grey, Shoveler, and Mallard
mixed bag limit 6 (provided that a mixed bag shall contain no more than the daily bag limit for each species)
Paradise Shelduck 5 May to 1 July 2001 incl. 10
Black Swan 5 May to 1 July 2001 incl. 3
Canada Goose 5 May to 4 June 2001 incl. 1
Pukeko 5 May to 12 August 2001 incl. 10
California Quail 5 May to 12 August 2001 incl. 10
Bobwhite Quail 5 May to 12 August 2001 incl. No limit
Brown Quail Closed season
Cock Pheasant 5 May to 12 August 2001 incl. 2

Canada Goose hunting is restricted to the following areas:

  1. Within 20 kilometre radius of Porangahau.
  2. From Kuripapango north of the Napier Taihape Road and west of the Ngaruroro River.

Shooting Hours

6.15 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy Limit

No limit.

Special Condition

It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of Black Swan or other game shot in this region.

Camouflaged Rowboats

Persons¹¹ may hunt or kill game within the Hawkes Bay Region, from unmoored camouflaged rowboats, except for opening weekend.
