Exemption from Requirements of the Code of Practice for the Attachment of Logging Bolsters to Trucks and Trailers Used in the Transport of Logs
Pursuant to Regulation 16A (1) (f) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, and pursuant to powers sub-delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Peter Waring, Principal Engineer, hereby exempt the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the code of practice for the attachment of logging bolsters to trucks and trailers used in the transport of logs, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2 of this notice.

Conditions
(i) Bolster attachments to use existing design with 250,000km recorded truck operation without failure.
(ii) Minor modifications to the existing design are only permissible if the certifier can demonstrate by calculation or approved type test that the performance and life of the bolster attachments have not been diminished by the modifications.
(iii) This exemption will expire on recertification of the bolster attachments to a type testing process approved by the Log Transport Safety Committee and the Land Transport Safety Authority, or on certification to a version of the code of practice for log bolster attachment which incorporates revised requirements for the attachment of convertible bolsters.

Traffic Regulations 1976
The Traffic (Selwyn District) Notice No. 3, 2001
Pursuant to Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety dated 18 January 2001, I, Peter Michael Cleal, Acting Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice.

This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Selwyn District) Notice No. 3, 2001.

Those localities and roads on the plan numbered LT 0159/3, entitled βSelwyn District Speed Restrictions at West Meltonβ and held by the Head Office of the Land Transport Safety Authority, and indicated by markings in accordance with the legend on that plan, are declared to be 70 kilometres an hour speed limit areas, pursuant to Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, as may be ascertained from the legend. The plan and legend are hereby incorporated into this notice.

The Traffic (Paparua County) Notice No. 1, 1987* dated 22 January 1987 is revoked.

Approval of Brake Testing Device in Accordance With the Requirements in the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to Regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Laszlo Andras Hidvegi, Senior Engineer, Vehicle Policy, hereby approve the brake testing device specified in Schedule 1 of this notice for the purpose of testing brakes according to the requirements of Regulation 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

These brake testing devices are the CRYPTON 630 machines that have been upgraded according to the specification prescribed by and using parts and components supplied by BM Autoteknik, and marked with new BM Autoteknik serial numbers.

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to Regulation 90 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, Paul Patrick Chapman, Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976 listed in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.
