National Curriculum Statement for Health Education, Physical Education and Home Economics

Pursuant to section 60A of the Education Act 1989 (incorporating all amendments), the Minister of Education hereby publishes the national curriculum statement known as Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum.

Copies of the statement can be obtained from Learning Media, P.O. Box 3293, Wellington, and/or from the Ministry of Education’s web site at:
www.minedu.govt.nz/curriculum

State and integrated schools are to provide learning and teaching programmes based on the national curriculum statement Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum for all students in years 1–10 from the date of publication of this notice.

Appointment of Temporary Commissioner—Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Matahi

Pursuant to section 109 (3) of the Education Act 1989 and section 12 of the Interpretation Act 1999 and a power delegated to me, due to the intended absence of the commissioner for a period of 6 weeks, I, Kathy Phillips, Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, hereby:

(a) terminate the appointment of Himiona Hunia as commissioner of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Matahi, as from 13 December 2001.

(b) appoint Awhina Waaka, retired school teacher, as commissioner of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Matahi, as from 13 December 2001.

(c) terminate the appointment of Awhina Waaka as commissioner as from 29 January 2002.

(d) reappoint Himiona Hunia as commissioner as from 29 January 2002.

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Taumarere Amendment Notice 2001

Pursuant to section 155D (4) of the Education Act 1989, and to a delegation from the Minister of Education, I hereby give the following notice.

Notice

1. This notice may be cited as the Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Taumarere Amendment Notice 2001.

2. The notice entitled, “Te Kura Kaupapa Māori O Taumarere”, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 30 May 1996, No. 54, page 1407, is hereby amended by revoking clause 5 and substituting the following clause:

“5. Constitution of the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Taumarere shall comprise:
(a) Five elected parent representatives.
(b) The principal.
(c) A staff representative.
(d) Not more than four persons co-opted by the Board.”

3. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. The notice entitled, “Te Kura Kaupapa Māori O Otepoti”, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 18 December 1997, No. 178, page 4256, is hereby amended by revoking clause 5 and substituting the following clause:

“5. Constitution of the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Otepoti shall comprise:
(a) Five elected parent representatives.
(b) The principal.
