Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation
Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of exemptions, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

1/EXE/43
On: 23 August 2001.
To: Air Nelson Limited.
From the Requirements in:
(a) Civil Aviation Rule 121.71 (f) (1) that each aerodrome to be used by an aeroplane with a certificated seating capacity of more than 30 passengers and is engaged on a regular air transport passenger service, shall be an aerodrome that is associated with a Part 139 certificate; and
(b) Civil Aviation Rule 139.305 (5), that no person operating an aeroplane engaged on an air transport operation shall use any place for the purpose of landing at or taking off from unless, if the aeroplane has a certified seating capacity of more than 30 passengers and is engaged on a scheduled flight, the place is certificated as an aerodrome under Part 139.
With Respect to: The operation of a regular air transport passenger charter flights service in SAAB 340 aircraft to and from Gisborne Aerodrome for the carriage of NPC rugby teams.
This exemption shall remain in effect from 1 August 2001 until 31 October 2001 inclusive, unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the Director.

To: Flightline Aviation Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.111 (a) (1) and (4) that no person shall operate a New Zealand registered aircraft unless the current Airworthiness Certificate and the Certificate of Registration are carried.
With Respect to: New aircraft purchased from Cessna Aircraft Company, Single Engine Division from Independence, that are entered on the New Zealand Register of Aircraft, and operated by Flightline Aviation Limited for the purpose of conducting an export delivery flight from Independence, Kansas, to Kiln, Mississippi.
This exemption shall remain in effect until 30 August 2002 unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the Director.

To: Mount Cook Airline Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rules 91.629 (a) (3), (4), (5), (8) and (9) that each operator of an aircraft shall provide a technical log for the aircraft that has provision for recording prescribed data.
Provided That: Mount Cook Airline Limited has a maintenance planning system that is documented in their exposition and is accepted by the Director, that records the prescribed data.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the Director.

On: 29 August 2001.
To: Any person holding a current medical certificate issued to that person before 24 August 2001 by the Director of Civil Aviation or an employee of the Civil Aviation who was not at the time an Aviation Medical Assessor.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviations Rules 61.35 (a) (1), or 63.23 (a) or 65.25 (a) (1) that a person shall not exercise privileges or carry out functions or activities associated with a licence held by that person or undertaken in accordance with Subpart C of Part 61 unless that person holds a current medical certificate issued under Part 67 of the Civil Aviation Rules.
This exemption applies only until the expiry date stated on the medical certificate issued to the exempted person by the Director of Civil Aviation or employee of the Civil Aviation Authority.

On: 12 October 2001.
To: Anthony Howard Monk, being the pilot-in-command of a helicopter operated by Hele-Tranz Limited, for the purpose of a low-level filming operation in close proximity to the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.311 (c) (3) that the aircraft remain outside a horizontal radius of 500 feet of any person, vessel, vehicle or structure that is not associated with the operation.
This exemption shall remain in effect until 20 October 2001 unless withdrawn in writing by the Director.

On: 30 October 2001.
To: Anthony Howard Monk, being the pilot-in-command of a helicopter operated by Hele-Tranz Limited, for the purpose of a low-level filming operation in close proximity to the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Relief provided by 2/EXE/12 granted on 12 October 2001 was not taken advantage of due to unfavourable weather conditions. This new exemption is therefore issued.
