The Government, with profound sorrow, announces the death of The Honourable Sir David Stuart Beattie, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., Q.S.O., K.ST.J., Q.C., Governor-General of New Zealand 1980–1985, at Wellington on Sunday, 4 February 2001.

The funeral service for The Honourable Sir David Stuart Beattie, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., Q.S.O., K.ST.J., Q.C., Governor-General of New Zealand 1980-1985, will be held at 1.00 p.m. on Friday, 9 February 2001, at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, Wellington, at the conclusion of which the cortege will proceed through central Wellington via Molesworth Street, Lambton Quay, Hunter Street, Customhouse Quay, Willis Street and Mercer Street to Civic Square, and thereafter to a private service at the Lychee Funeral Home, Wellington.
