Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974
Exemption From Specific Equipment Requirement
Pursuant to Regulation 16A (2) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, pursuant to Regulation 1 (7) (a) of the Goods Service Vehicle (Constructional) Regulations 1936, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Laszlo Andras Hidvegi, Senior Engineer, Vehicle Policy, hereby exempt the vehicles specified in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.
Schedule 1
Exempted Vehicles:
All Mercedes Benz ACTROS and ATEGO trucks, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of which starts with 6 characters falling into the range of WDB950 to WDB976.
Schedule 2

Regulation 16A (1) (b) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974.

Requirement to be fitted with audible low air pressure warning device required in Regulation 2 (4) (b) (ii) of the Goods Service Vehicle (Constructional) Regulations 1936.
Schedule 3
(1) It must be demonstrated that the vehicles comply with the requirements of UN/ECE Regulation No. 13, 09 series of amendments, supplement 2 (E/ECE/324-E/ECE/TRANS/505.Rev.1/ Add12/Rev.3/Amend.2) “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles of categories ‘M’, ‘N’ and ‘O’ with regard to braking” or any later version of this regulation.
(2) The two, factory fitted independent visual warning devices of the vehicles to warn the drivers if the air pressure in any of the service brake reservoirs drops below 6.8 bar; or if the air pressure in the parking brake system or trailer brake system reservoir drops below 5.5 bar, must be operable.
(3) The vehicles must continue to comply with the requirements of the regulation in clause (1) and the requirement in clause (2) above.
(4) A Statement of Compliance with the requirements in clauses (1) and (2) above must be issued for each exempted vehicle by the authorised agent of the vehicle manufacturer, and it must require continuous compliance with this exemption.
(5) The Statement of Compliance in clause (4) above is sufficient means of verification of compliance with a standard, alternative to the one required in Regulation 16A (1) (b) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974.
(6) A copy of the Statement of Compliance in clause (4) above, together with every relevant supporting information and documents, must be kept by the person who issued it, and one copy of Statement of Compliance must be provided to the registration organisation and to the operator of the vehicle.
(7) This exemption may be revoked at any time.

Traffic Regulations 1976
Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to Regulations 90 (2) and (3) of the Traffic 1976, I, John Ashley Gregg, Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the motor vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements contained with Regulation 70 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, subject to the conditions specified within Schedule 2 of this notice.

Conditions
(i) When the vehicle is operated on a road, the arm and sawblade are parked so they do not impede the driver’s forward view through the windscreen and to the left and right of the driving position or constitute a dangerous fitting;
(ii) When the vehicle is operated on a road, mirrors which give a clear rearward view must be fitted at all times;
(iii) When the vehicle is operated on a road, the maximum speed at which it may travel is limited to 80 kph;
(iv) This exemption may be revoked at any time;
(v) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and must be readily available for inspection.

Approval of Brake Testing Device in Accordance with the Requirements in the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Laszlo Andras Hidvegi, Senior Engineer, Vehicle Policy, hereby approve the brake testing device specified in Schedule 1 of this notice for the purpose of testing brakes according to the requirements of Regulation 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
