Order of the Council in Disciplinary Session
Order in Respect of a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse
After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 41 (3) and 48F, 42 (2) (a), 42 (9), 42 (2) (ba), 42 (3) and 23 (2) of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 18 May 2000, ordered that a registered general and obstetric nurse only practise as a general and obstetric nurse under supervision of an approved registered nurse for a period of 18 months, that she pay $4,517.00 being 40% of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation and prosecution by the Preliminary Proceedings Committee and inquiry by the council, and that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the council’s newsletter with the names of all parties and location suppressed.

After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 42 (1) (b), 42 (2) (ba) and 48A of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 9 June 2000, ordered that a registered and general obstetric nurse only practise as a general and obstetric nurse under supervision in a workplace approved by the council for a period of 12 months, that she pay $2,180.00 being 40% of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation and prosecution by the Preliminary Proceedings Committee and inquiry by the council, and that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the council’s newsletter with the names of all parties to be suppressed.

Order of the Council in Disciplinary Session
Order in Respect of Christine Margaret Palmer Registered Comprehensive Nurse
After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 42 (1) (b) and 48F, 42 (2) (a), 42 (9), 42 (3), 48A and 23 (2) of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 18 May 2000, ordered that the name of Christine Margaret Palmer be removed from the Register of Comprehensive Nurses.
The Council declined to fix a time after which she may apply to have her name restored to the Register.
The council also ordered that Christine Margaret Palmer pay $7,830.00 being 50% of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation and prosecution by the Preliminary Proceedings Committee and inquiry by the council, that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the council’s newsletter, and that she return to the Registrar the certificate and badge issued to her under the Nurses Act 1977.
