Liquor Licensing Authority Re-Appointment of Chairperson
Pursuant to section 85 of the Sale of Liquor Act 1988, His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to re-appoint
John Pennington Gatley, District Court Judge of Wellington
to be the chairperson of the Liquor Licensing Authority for a term of 5 years on and from the date hereof.

Social Security Act 1964
Special Needs Grant Amendment (No 8)
Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, the Minister of Social Services and Employment establishes and approves the following amendment to the Special Needs Grant welfare programme (as established and approved on 18 December 1998).

Amendment

Title—(1) This is the Special Needs Grant Amendment (No 8).
(2) In this amendment, the Special Needs Grant Programme is called "the programme".

Commencement—This Direction comes into effect on 1 July 2000.

Eligibility for Food Grant—Clause 11.2.1 of the programme is amended:
(a) by omitting the words ", after making an assessment as to whether clause 11.2.3 applies,";
(b) by omitting from paragraph (c) the words "food; and", and substituting the word "food.";
(c) by revoking paragraph (d).

Revoking provisions relating to budgeting advice—The programme is amended by revoking clauses 11.2.3 to 11.2.7, and substituting the following clause:
"11.2.3 Interpretation: For the purposes of clause 11.2.2, a reference to a grant under clause 11.2.1 in the form that it was before 1 October 1999."
Explanatory Note:
This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This amendment, which comes into effect on 1 July 2000, revokes the mandatory referral for budgeting advice provisions of the Special Needs Grant welfare programme.

Notice of Exemption—Powerco Limited
The commission, pursuant to section 81 (5), varies its previous exemption, contained in Decision 360 and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 8 July 1999, of
Infrastructure and Utilities NZ Limited from the application of section 35(1) (e) of the Electricity Industry Reform Act 1998 in relation to a prohibited cross-involvement in the electricity lines business of Powerco Limited and the electricity supply business of TrustPower Limited.
The exemption is now subject to the following terms and conditions:
(a) Infrastructure & Utilities NZ Limited will continue to use all reasonable endeavours to cease its involvement in Powerco Limited by becoming non-associated with the New Plymouth District Council in respect of Powerco Limited.
