Amendment to the Constitution of Council of Taranaki Polytechnic

Pursuant to section 170 of the Education Act 1989, the Associate Minister of Education (Tertiary Education) hereby gives the following notice:

Notice

1. This notice may be cited as the Constitution of Taranaki Polytechnic Notice 2000.

2. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. The Taranaki Polytechnic Council shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Four persons appointed by the Minister of Education;

(b) The Chief Executive Officer of Taranaki Polytechnic;

(c) One permanent member of the academic staff of Taranaki Polytechnic elected by the permanent members of that staff;

(d) One permanent member of the general staff of Taranaki Polytechnic elected by the permanent members of that staff;

(e) One permanent member who is or has been a student of Taranaki Polytechnic who shall represent the students of Taranaki Polytechnic and who shall either be elected by the students of Taranaki Polytechnic or appointed by the Taranaki Polytechnic Students’ Association Executive, if the students so decide;

(f) One member appointed by the Taranaki Polytechnic Council after consultation with the Employers’ and Manufacturers’ Association (Taranaki Branch);

(g) One member appointed by the Taranaki Polytechnic Council after consultation with the Taranaki District Council of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions;

(h) Two members co-opted by the Taranaki Polytechnic Council.

4. The term of office of members of the council, vacation of office, disclosure of members’ interest and casual vacancies are covered in sections 173-176 of the Education Act 1989.

5. Subject to section 173, the maximum term for any member, other than the chief executive officer, shall be three consecutive four year terms.

6. The powers of the Taranaki Polytechnic Council shall not be affected by vacancy in the membership thereof.

7. The Taranaki Polytechnic Notice 1990 appearing in the New Zealand Gazette, 25 October 1990, No. 186, page 3995, is hereby revoked.

Appointment of Temporary Commissioner for Oruawharo School

Pursuant to section 109 (3) of the Education Act 1989 and section 12 of the Interpretation Act 1999, and a power delegated to me, due to the intended absence of the Commissioner for a period of 2 months, I, Kathy Phillips, Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, hereby:

(a) Terminate the appointment of Don Sinclair as Commissioner of Oruawharo School, as from 24 March 2000;

(b) Appoint Murray David Billington, retired school teacher, as Commissioner of Oruawharo School, as from 24 March 2000;

(c) Terminate the appointment of Murray David Billington as Commissioner, as from 30 April 2000;

and

(d) Reappoint Don Sinclair as Commissioner, as from 30 April 2000.

Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12 (1) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 24 April 1995, which was granted under those regulations to Desirae Hohepa, in respect of Tumanako Whanau Kohanga Reo (25250), situated at care of Clydemore Primary School, Otara, Auckland.

The centre has merged with another centre.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12 (1) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 3 February 2000, which was granted under those regulations to Waimiria Matika, in respect of Te Kuao o Taupiri Te Kohanga Reo (35068), situated at 1 Kainui Road, Taupiri.

The centre has ceased to operate.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to Regulation 12 (1) of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence from December 1988, which was granted under those regulations to Pastor David Costar, in respect of The Ark Preschool, Nelson (65421), situated at 183 Queen Street, Richmond, Nelson.
