Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974

Exemption From Requirements of the Code of Practice for the Attachment of Logging Bolsters to Trucks and Trailers Used in the Transport of Logs

Pursuant to Regulation 16A (1) (f) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, and pursuant to powers sub-delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Peter Waring, Principal Engineer, hereby exempt the vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Code of Practice for the Attachment of Logging Bolsters to Trucks and Trailers used in the Transport of Logs, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2 of this notice.

Schedule 2
Conditions

  1. Bolster attachments to use existing design with 250,000km recorded truck operation without failure.

  2. Minor modifications to the existing design are only permissible if the certifier can demonstrate by calculation or approved type test that the performance and life of the bolster attachments have not been diminished by the modifications.

  3. This exemption will expire on recertification of the bolster attachments to a type testing process approved by the Log Transport Safety Committee and the Land Transport Safety Authority, or on certification to a version of the Code of Practice for Log Bolster Attachment which incorporates revised requirements for the attachment of convertible bolsters.

Declaration of Vehicle With Motorcycle Controls to be a Motorcycle

Pursuant to section 2 (1) of the Transport Act 1962, I, John Ashley Gregg, Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby declare the vehicle specified in Schedule 1 to be a motorcycle for the purposes of the said Act and any regulations under this Act, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2.


The Traffic (Clutha District) Notice 2000

Pursuant to sections 52 (1) (c) and 52 (3) of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice.

Notice

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Clutha District) Notice 2000.

(1) The roads specified in the First Schedule are declared to be closely populated localities for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

(2) The roads specified in the Second Schedule are declared to be 70 kilometres an hour speed limit areas, pursuant to Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

(3) The Traffic (Bruce County) Notice No. 1, 1983, dated 26 April 1983* issued pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, is revoked.

(4) The Traffic (Clutha District) Notice No. 1, 1991, signed 29 August 1991** issued pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, is revoked.
