This notice comes into force on the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
First Schedule
Definition
A mobile home is a rigid heavy motor vehicle which can be used as a place of abode and contains facilities for cooking, eating, sleeping and washing, and is not a passenger service vehicle.
A rubbish collection vehicle is a rigid heavy motor vehicle which is principally used for the collection of refuse and solid waste material and includes a vehicle with a rubbish compactor.
Second Schedule
Operating Conditions

The rear overhang must not exceed the lesser of 4.0 metres or 70 percent of the distance from the rear axle to the foremost axle of the vehicle.

The weight on the front axle set or twin steer set of the vehicle must at all times be at least 20 percent of sum of the axle weights of the vehicle.

If the vehicle has a tow coupling which is rated to tow a heavy trailer, the position of the tow coupling must not be further rearward of the rear axis of the vehicle than a measurement which is not more than 50 percent of the distance from the foremost axle to the rear axis of the vehicle.

Explanatory Note:
This notice allows mobile homes and rubbish collection vehicles to have extended rear overhang. Note that an operator who breaches any of the conditions in the Second Schedule loses entitlement to the extended rear overhang exemption. Consequently, a police officer may remove the vehicle from service until it does comply with the conditions in the Second Schedule and may issue an offence notice for exceeding Traffic Regulations 48B (1) (e) or 48B (1) (f).

Pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice.

LT0032/2 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions – Details New Plymouth City (includes Bell Block)”,
LT0032/3 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Okato”,
LT0032/4 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Okura”,
LT0032/5 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Inglewood”,
LT0032/6 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Waitara”,
LT0032/7 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Urenui”,
LT0032/8 of 8, entitled “Speed Restrictions Egmont Village Lepperton and Tongaporutu”,
and held by the head office of the Land Transport Safety Authority, are declared to be:
(a) Closely populated localities at all times, pursuant to section 52 (1) (c) of the Transport Act 1962; or
(b) 70 kilometres an hour speed limit areas, pursuant to Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, as may be ascertained from the legend. The plan and legend are hereby incorporated into this notice.

Declaring State Highway to be Limited Access Road—Transit New Zealand Regions 3 and 4, Hamilton
It is notified that Transit New Zealand, by resolution dated 1 November 2000 and pursuant to section 88 (1) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, hereby declares those parts of State highway described in the Schedule hereto, and as more particularly shown on plans LA/20/1617/1, LA/23/56/3, LA/23/59/1, LR/60, LA/20/1614/1, LA/20/1616/1 and accompanying schedules held in the office of the Regional Manager, Transit New Zealand, Hamilton, and there available for public inspection, to be limited access road.

In South Waikato District, commencing at the south abutment of the Waimakariri Bridge (Route Position 5/1.39) and proceeding generally in an easterly direction to the Region 3/4 Boundary (Route Position 8/20.72); a distance of 22.04 kilometres.
In Rotorua District, commencing at the intersection with Tarukenga Road (Route Position 29/10.78) and proceeding generally in an easterly direction to its intersection with Ngongotaha Road (Route Position 29/16.00); a distance of 5.22 kilometres.
In Rotorua District, commencing at State Highway No. 5/State Highway No. 30 Intersection (Route Position 56/0.00) and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction to Rainbow Mountain (Route Position 77/0.00); a distance of 20/29 kilometres.
