✨ Fishing Regulations

2.3 The following waters are open from 1 October - 30 April
and then from 1 June - 30 September:
Lake Rotorangi from the dam face to the Mangamingi ramp;
Lake Rataipiko, except the inlet race;
Stony (Hangatahua) River, Warea River, Kapoaiia Stream,
Waiaua River, Mangahume Stream, Otakeho Stream,
Kaupokonui Stream, Waingongoro River, all downstream
from the State Highway No. 45 bridges;
Patea River downstream from Patea Dam.

2.4 The following waters are open from 1 October - 20 April and then from
10 July - 30 September:
Lake Wiritoa;
Lake Pauri.

2.5 All other waters in the region are open from 1 October - 30 April.

  1. AUTHORISED TACKLE
    3.1 No licence holder shall use any double or treble pointedhook, or any multiple
    hook assembly.

  2. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS
    4.1 The following waters are restricted to fly fishing only:
    Lake Mangamahoe, including the Waiwhakaiho inlet.

  3. ARTIFICIAL FLY AND SPINNER ONLY WATERS
    5.1 The following waters are restricted to artificial fly and spinner only:
    Mangaoraka Stream from the bridge at Te Arei Road West upstream to the
    bridge at Corbett Road;
    Kaiauai Stream upstream of the bridge at Alfred Road;
    Stony River from the bridge at State Highway 45 upstream to the bridge at
    Mangatete Road;
    Kapuni Stream upstream from the bridge at Skeet Road.

  4. DAILY LIMIT BAG
    6.1 Catch and Release Only
    All sports fish caught in the following waters must be released immediately
    back into the waters from which they were taken with as little injury as
    possible:
    Mangaoraka Stream from the bridge at Te Arei Road West upstream to the
    bridge at Corbett Road;
    Kaiauai Stream upstream of the bridge at Alfred Road;
    Stony River from the bridge at State Highway 45 upstream to the bridge at
    Mangatete Road;
    Kapuni Stream upstream from the bridge at Skeet Road.

6.2 No licence holder shall on any day kill more than two (2) sports fish, other
than perch, from the following waters:
Virginia Lake;
Lake Ngangana;
