d) any downrigger, paravane, other device or weight (other than a running line) designed to sink a lure while trolling;

e) any gaff or landing hook;

f) any unsportsmanlike device or gear;

g) any preparation to attract fish;

4.3 Metal cored or wire lines can be used in all lakes in the Eastern Fish and Game Region except Lakes Waikaremoana and Waikareiti. Metal cored or wire lines are not permitted in any lake areas that at any time of the year have been designated to be artificial fly only.

  1. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS
    The following waters are restricted to artificial fly fishing only;

5.1 The Ohau Channel and waters within a 200m radius from the Lake Rotorua end of the channel and a 300m radius of the Lake Rotoiti end of the channel;

5.2 The Ngongotaha, Waiteti, Awahou, Hamurana Streams and within a 200m radius of their stream mouths on Lake Rotorua, and the Utuhina Stream above the Lake Road bridge;

5.3 Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Tapuaekura (Coles) Bay, and Hauparu Bay on Lake Rotoiti from April 1 to June 30, and within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Ruato Bay, Waitiiti Stream and the Pipe at Northern Hinehopu on Lake Rotoiti from April 1 to September 30;

5.4 Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at the Log Pool and Rayners 1 and Rayners 2 streams on Lake Okataina from April 1 to June 30;

5.5 Within a 200m radius of the stream mouths at Te Wairoa, The Landing, Waitangi Stream, Tarawera Outlet, Wairua Stream and Twin Creeks on Lake Tarawera;

5.6 The Hopuruahine, Aniwaniwa, Korokoro, Mokau Streams and their tributaries and within a 200m radius of their river mouth landmarks in Lake Waikaremoana;

5.7 Within a 200m radius of the Ngawhakaiterara Stream mouth in Lake Waikareiti;

5.8 The Tarawera River from Lake Tarawera (excluding the trout spawning sanctuary) to the Tarawera Falls;

5.9 The Horomanga River and tributaries;

5.10 The Ruakituri and Hangaroa Rivers (including their tributaries) upstream from the base of the Te Reinga Falls;

5.11 The Wharekopae River;

5.12 The Waioeka River and Opato Stream (including tributaries) upstream from their confluence;

5.13 Lakes Whakamarino and Kaitawa (including all inflowing streams).

5.14 The Waimapu Stream above the waterfall 1 km east of the Oropi Road - Hereford Road junction.

  1. BAIT FISHING WATERS
    No licence holder shall use any bait except for natural fly, natural insect or natural crustacean (excluding koura) in any waters of the Eastern Fish and Game Region.
