Notice of Public Ruling

  1. This is a notice of a public ruling made under section 91D of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

  2. Public ruling No. 99/4 entitled “Land sales — whether income tax exemptions for farm land apply to non-natural persons” will appear in Inland Revenue’s Tax Information Bulletin, Vol. 11, No. 7 of August 1999.

  3. A copy of the ruling may be obtained by writing to the Assistant General Manager (Adjudication & Rulings), National Office, Inland Revenue, P.O. Box 2198, Wellington.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977

Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Promoted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Seagram Pty Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of the alcoholic beverages.

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Seagram Pty Limited shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 31 October 1999;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the New Zealand Sunday Star Times on 5 November 1999;

Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(4) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.

District Courts Act 1947

Acting District Court Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

Arthur William Middleton, retired District Court Judge
to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction in New Zealand, at such place or places and for such period or periods only as the Chief District Court Judge may fix, pursuant to the said section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, for a term of 12 months on and from the 15th day of September 1999.

Notice of Disclaimer Under Section 300 of the Companies Act 1955

In the matter of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, and in the matter of section 300 of the Companies Act 1955, and in the matter of Corbin Allen and Company Limited:

Take notice that I, Alan Esmond Bollard, Secretary to the Treasury, pursuant to section 300 of the Companies Act 1955, hereby disclaim for and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, all right, title and interest of Her Majesty the Queen in the following 2 motor vehicles:

(a) 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380 SE, registration No. SS 687 and

(b) 1987 Audi 90, registration No. NB 7174

being property formerly held by Corbin Allen and Company Limited, a company removed from the Companies Register on 10 March 1995, under section 293 (1) (b) of the Companies Act 1955, and formerly having its registered office at Kumeu.

And I certify that the vesting of the said properties did not come to my notice until the 14th day of July 1999.

I, Dr Alan Esmond Bollard, Secretary to the Treasury, hereby give notice that on 25 June 1999, I first became aware that the Crown was vested under section 324 (1) of the Companies Act 1993 (by virtue of the removal of Korsakov Oceanic Fishing (NZ) Limited from the Register of Companies on 20 October 1998, pursuant to section 318 (1) (b) of the Companies Act 1993, with rights as shareholder of five (5) one dollar ($1.00) fully paid ordinary shares in KANZ Limited.
