1. This is a notice of a product ruling made under section 91F of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

2. Product ruling No. 99/2 was issued on 11 May 1999. It relates to an investment product, and sections 3 and 14 (a) of the Goods and Services Tax Act 1985.

3. A copy of the ruling may be obtained by writing to the General Manager (Adjudication & Rulings), National Office, Inland Revenue, P.O. Box 2198, Wellington.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977

Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Prize Competition Promoted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Laine Furnishings Pty Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of the textile fabric.

Schedule

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Laine Furnishing Pty Limited shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 10 May 2000;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the Sunday Star Times on 21 May 2000; Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(4) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Swatch Group Australia Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a prize competition promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of the Swatch watches.

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Swatch Group Australia shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 25 July 1999;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the Sunday Star Times on 28 July 1999; Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(4) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.
