All radio apparatus operating in accordance with the Second Schedule of this notice must comply with the requirements of Performance Specification MPT 1334 issued by the United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry Radiocommunications Agency, or must comply with the requirements of ETS 300 131 issued by the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI).

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice prescribes that, pursuant to regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, a general licence is granted in respect of the installation, operation, and use of radio apparatus on frequencies specified in this notice. The licence only applies to radio apparatus which complies with technical specification RFS 30 (Issue 1, February 1996 (and subsequent amendments)) and in respect of which a declaration of conformity has been submitted to the Secretary under regulation 43 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993. This notice comes into effect on 18 February 1999. Users should note that base and portable/handset units are also required to meet the Permission To Connect (PTC) requirements of Telecom NZ Ltd for interconnection with their network.
