Te Kura o Tawhiuau Establishment

Pursuant to sections 146 and 156 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

Notice

1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura o Tawhiuau establishment.

2. The notice shall come into force on 1 January 2000.

3. I hereby establish in Murupara a composite school called Te Kura o Tawhiuau and designate the school as a designated character school.

4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura o Tawhiuau.
   Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura o Tawhiuau.

   (i) To learn through te reo and tikanga o Ngati Manawa.

   (ii) To lift the academic achievement of all children.

   (iii) To pursue excellence and quality in all areas of the kura.

   (iv) To produce bilingual and biliterate students.
