Nissan Sunny motor vehicle, registration No. RE 1420 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, Sherrin Elizabeth Hutton be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or a Bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga, by 4.00 p.m. on the 10th day of November 1999.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On the 8th day of November 1999 at the District Court at Thames, John Joseph Loughed of 9 Puriri Valley Road, Thames, was convicted and sentenced to 200 hours community service and final warning and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver’s licence indefinitely from the 8th day of November 1999, following his conviction on the 21st day of October 1999 for an offence of driving a motor vehicle with excess breath alcohol,

and in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, the District Court Judge has ordered that a

1987 Toyota Corolla station wagon motor vehicle, registered number NF 3779

owned by the above-mentioned defendant, John Joseph Loughed, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The Court further order pursuant to section 83 (3) Criminal Justice Act 1985, that John Joseph Loughed be prohibited from acquiring any interest in any vehicle within 12 months from the date of this order.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Thames or a Bailiff of the District Court, Thames, by 3.00 p.m. on the 11th day of November 1999.

Appointment of Court to Exercise Criminal Jurisdiction in Respect of Indictable Offences

Pursuant to the District Courts Act 1947

Pursuant to section 4 (2A) of the District Courts Act 1947, as inserted by section 2 (2) of the District Courts Amendment Act 1980, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Papakura as a place in which courts may be held for the exercise of criminal jurisdiction in respect of indictable offences under Part IIA of the District Courts Act 1947.

Notice Amending the National Administration Guidelines

Notice

Pursuant to section 60A of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education makes the following amendments to the National Administration Guidelines notified in the New Zealand Gazette on 29 April 1993, No. 58 page 1086 and on 27 June 1996, No 65, page 1634.

The National Administration Guidelines are amended by deleting existing clause 1 and substituting the following clause:

“1 Each Board of Trustees is required to foster student achievement by providing teaching and learning programmes which incorporate the New Zealand Curriculum (essential learning areas, essential skills and attitudes and values) as expressed in National Curriculum Statements.

Each Board, through the principal and staff is required to:

i develop and implement teaching and learning programmes:

a to provide all students in years 1–10 with opportunities to achieve for success in all the essential learning and skill areas of the New Zealand curriculum;

b giving priority to student achievement in literacy and numeracy, especially in years 1–4;

ii through a range of assessment practices, gather information that is sufficiently comprehensive to enable the progress and achievement of students to be evaluated; giving priority first to:

a student achievement in literacy and numeracy, especially in years 1–4;

and then to:

b breadth and depth of learning related to the needs, abilities and interests of students, the nature of the school’s curriculum, and the scope of the New Zealand curriculum (as expressed in the National Curriculum Statements);

iii on the basis of good quality assessment information, identify students and groups of students:

a who are not achieving;

b who are at risk of not achieving;

c who have special needs;

and

d aspects of the curriculum which require particular attention;

iv develop and implement teaching and learning strategies to address the needs of students and aspects of the curriculum identified in iii above;

v in consultation with the school’s Maori community, develop and make known to the school’s community policies, plans and targets for improving the achievement of Maori students;
