Notifying Issue of Writs, Date of Polling, etc.
PURSUANT to a Warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, dated the 27th day of October 1999 directed to the Clerk of the Writs, I have this day issued writs to all Returning Officers authorising them to proceed to hold an indicative referendum on the following question, namely,
Should the size of the House of Representatives be reduced from 120 members to 99 members?
The indicative referendum shall be taken on Saturday, the 27th day of November 1999, and the writs shall be returned to me on or before Thursday, the 16th day of December 1999.

Should there be a reform of our justice system placing greater emphasis on the needs of victims, providing restitution and compensation for them and imposing minimum sentences and hard labour for all serious violent offences?
The indicative referendum shall be taken on Saturday, the 27th day of November 1999, and the writs shall be returned to me on or before Thursday, the 16th day of December 1999.
