This notice prescribes that, pursuant to regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, a general licence is granted in respect of the installation, operation, and use of radio apparatus on frequencies specified in this notice. The licence only applies to apparatus which complies with section 3 of the standard AS/NZS 4330:1995, and that is installed, operated and used for the transmission of radio distress alerts. This notice comes into effect on 4 February 1999.

Education Act 1989

National Curriculum Statement for Technology

Pursuant to section 60A of the Education Act 1989 (as amended by section 9 (1) of the Education Amendment Act (No. 4) 1991), section 7 of the Education Amendment Act 1993 and section 19 of the Education Amendment Act (No. 2) 1998), the Minister of Education hereby publishes the national curriculum statement known as “Technology in the New Zealand Curriculum”.

Copies of the statement can be obtained from Learning Media Limited, P.O. Box 3293, Wellington and/or from the Ministry of Education’s internet site at www.minedu.govt.nz/curriculum.

State and integrated schools are to comply with the national curriculum statement in years 1–10 from the commencement date of 8 February 1999.

In years 1–6, the curriculum statement will apply as specified on page 29 in terms of requirements for coverage of technological areas from the commencement date.

However, in years 7–8 and in years 9–10 there will be a reduced requirement in terms of coverage of technological areas of 4 areas over the 2-year levels, from 8 February 1999 until 31 December 1999 (refer “Technology in the New Zealand Curriculum”, page 29).

Integration Agreement

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that an integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

St Paul’s School, Richmond.

The said integration agreement was executed on the 26th day of January 1999. A copy of the integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the national office of the Ministry of Education, Pipitea Street, Wellington.
