  1. DAILY LIMIT BAGS

    6.1 No licence holder shall continue to fish for a particular species of sports fish on any day in which he or she has already killed the limit bag for that species except in Otago (see second schedule).

    6.2 It shall be permissible to make up the difference between a lesser limit bag prescribed in one place and a higher limit bag prescribed in another.

  2. AUTHORISED LURES AND BAITS

    Authorised lures and baits (subject to any regional restrictions specified in the Second Schedule) are:
    Artificial fly
    Spinner
    Bait

SECOND SCHEDULE


NORTHLAND FISH AND GAME REGION

  1. INTERPRETATION

    See First Schedule

  2. OPEN SEASON

    2.1 All lakes and reservoirs in region
    Season Duration
    All Year

    2.2 All rivers and streams in region
    1 October to 30 April

  3. CLOSED SEASON

    3.1 All rivers and streams in region
    1 May to 30 September

  4. AUTHORISED TACKLE

    4.1 Licence holders shall fish for sports fish in the Northland Fish & Game Region, using a single rod, reel, and running line.

  5. AUTHORISED LURES AND BAITS

    5.1 Licence holders shall fish for sports fish in the Northland Fish & Game Region, using artificial fly, spinner or bait only (as defined in the First Schedule), except that bait may not be used in any rivers or streams.

  6. EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN TACKLE

    6.1 No Licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use:
    a) any lead or weight, fixed or running, except where an authorised lure or bait is attached to a terminal trace of a minimum length of 600 mm.
    b) any hook which has a gape greater than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank
    c) any lure having more than one hook, or having a multiple hook, or any fixed hooks.
    d) more than 2 lures
    e) any lure treated with any medicinal preparation other than a substance used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly.
    f) any downrigger or paravane;
    g) any gaff or landing hook;
    h) any unsportsman like device or gear;
