Meat Board Act 1997

Carcass Description Systems

Pursuant to section 42 of the Meat Board Act 1997, notice is hereby given that the mandatory carcass description systems for cattle and sheep currently in use under the Meat Board Act will be revoked on 30 September 1999.

As at 1 October 1999, licensees of licensed export slaughterhouses will no longer be compelled to comply with the carcass description systems currently in use under the Meat Board Act, but may use the systems in their current form, on a voluntary basis.

Quota Allowance Allocation System in Respect of United States Lamb Tariff Rate Quota

Pursuant to section 33 of the Meat Board Act 1997, notice is given that the New Zealand Meat Board has established an allocation system for United States Lamb Tariff Rate Quota. The system is as set out and described in the letters dated 6 August 1999 ("Establishment of United States Lamb Tariff Rate Quota Allocation System") and 3 September 1999 ("Establishment of United States Lamb Tariff Rate Quota Allocation System – New Entrant Allowances Allocation System") and is effective from the United States tariff quota year commencing 22 July 1999. Copies are available from the board.

Provisional 1999–2000 US Lamb Tariff Rate Quota Allocation

Pursuant to section 33 of the Meat Board Act 1997, notice is given that the New Zealand Meat Board has provisionally allocated access of 75 percent of the United States Lamb Tariff Rate Quota of 14 481.603 tonnes for the 1999–2000 Quota Year, commencing 22 July 1999, as set out below. Final allocations will be confirmed following verification of information supplied by companies.
